About

Claudia Forgas, Editor

Claudia has been a professional editor since 1996. For her, editing is like assembling an intricate jigsaw puzzle—it takes care and patience to ensure that all of the pieces fit together as they should (often without the box top for reference), and the results are highly rewarding.

Claudia has a publishing certificate from Ryerson University and a master in environmental studies from York University. While at Ryerson University, she was honoured to win the Marsh Jeanneret Memorial Award. This award recognized academic excellence in her course work and my demonstration of promise. Over the years, she has supplemented her editorial training with numerous editorial seminars through the Editors' Association of Canada.

In terms of volunteering, Claudia served as the co-chair of the Toronto branch of the Editors' Association of Canada from 2000–2001. In 2000, she was selected to be a judge for the Tom Fairley Award for Editorial Excellence. From 2002–2003, she served as the co-chair of the Publishing in Crisis Again Committee of the Editors' Association of Canada.

From 2001–2004, Claudia was the instructor of Copyediting and Proofreading, an introductory editing class at The Learning Annex, Toronto.
